An Portán is a Fáilte Ireland approved guest house in the centre of Dunquin, just a short distance from the Dingle Way. The guest house comprises of fourteen bedrooms with a restaurant to the front of the property in a separate block.
All bedrooms have a double and single bed, with an ensuite and shower. There is also a television, radio, direct-dial phone and tea & coffee making facilities in each room. Rooms are accessed directly from a courtyard allowing guests the flexibility of arriving back late without disturbing other guests.
An Portán offers residential courses in the Irish language for people at all levels. This provides a good opportunity to practice speaking "as Gaeilge" or perhaps learn the first "cúpla focal".
Those wishing to experience the Blasket Islands are advised to stay a second night in Dunquin to increase their chances of getting a calm sea and catching the ferry over. Failing that, there are other worthwhile loop walks around Dunquin that will make up for any disappointment. Packed lunches can be made upon request and those continuing on the Dingle Way can arrange for their luggage to be transferred ahead of them.
