Celtic Nature - Part of the Insight Nenwork

Visual Tour of Kerry

The Blasket Islands on the Western tip of the Dingle Peninsula.

Seven Islands form the archipelago of the Blaskets. The Great Blasket supported a population of up to two hundred before it declined to 22. The Island was evacuated in 1953.

The former community left a huge literary legacy recording the stories of times now gone.

The Blaskets can be visited daily weather permitting with ferries leaving from the pier at Dunquin. While you are visiting the dingle Peninsula a trip to the Blasket Islands is highly recommended.
