Tralee is the largest town in County Kerry and has no shortage of pubs, restaurants, shops and accommodation. Popular tourist attractions in the town include Siamse Tíre (the Folk Theatre of Ireland), the Aqua-Dome and a large greyhound stadium. Dingle Way walkers will also be keen to find the landmark of the Kerry County Museum as the trailhead for this long-distance walk can be found beside the building.
One of Kerry's largest events is the Rose of Tralee which takes place in August each year. This beauty pageant draws contestants of Irish extraction from all over the world and it is one of the annual highlights on Irish television. There is a huge demand for accommodation in the area during the week of the festival and walkers are strongly advised to book their lodgings well in advance of this period.
