Ventry is a picturesque village that is sited alongside a natural harbour with a cresent-shaped beach that spans nearly three kilometers. A blue flag has been awarded to the beach for its clear and calm waters.
These very same waters have seen more turbulent times in history though, as a war was fought against both the King of France and the King of Spain which is said to have lasted a year and a day.
As with most of the villages on the Dingle Way, the post office serves as the hub of the village and Ventry prides itself on its post office having a prize-winning shop front. Internet access is available in this post office. Other shops, restaurants and pubs are somewhat spread out along the seafront.
